King holds talks with Moroccan monarch

His Majesty King Abdullah held talks on Thursday with King Mohammed VI of Morocco on bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Middle East.

The two leaders voiced hope that the upcoming Arab Summit, which will convene in Jordan this week, would culminate in a joint Arab vision towards the various crises and challenges facing the region.

Talks also reiterated the importance of taking practical steps to enhance joint Arab action.

Discussions covered means to bolster cooperation and build on the outcomes of the joint Jordanian-Moroccan Higher Committee, which convened in Rabat last year. During the meeting, King Abdullah congratulated the Moroccan monarch on rejoining the African Union.

King Abdullah and King Mohammed VI spoke about issues on the agenda of the Arab Summit, mainly the peace process, Jerusalem, Iraq’s national reconciliation, and the latest developments in Syria and Libya, as well as efforts to fight terrorism.

Talks touched on efforts to relaunch effective and serious talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis, with the two-state solution deemed as the only means to end the conflict.

On Jerusalem, the two leaders underlined the importance of maintaining the historical and legal status quo in the city, while warning against any attempts to change facts on the ground.

They also discussed the Syrian crisis and underscored the importance of finding a political solution that maintains the country’s unity. 

Moreover, His Majesty and King Mohammed VI examined the latest developments in Iraq and Libya, affirming support for national reconciliation efforts in Iraq. 
The King also praised Morocco’s role in seeking a political solution in Libya.

The two leaders touched on regional and international efforts to combat the global threat of terrorism.

King Mohammed VI spoke about the importance of the upcoming Arab Summit, praising His Majesty’s support for Arab causes and his work to enhance peace and security in the Middle East.
