His Majesty King Abdullah II receives Annan؟s envoy

His Majesty King Abdullah II Monday received Dutch Minister of Housing, Planning and Environment , the special envoy of UN General Secretary for the World Congress on Sustainable Environment , Jean Bronk who handed His Majesty a personal invitation from Kofi Annan to attend Earth Summit for Sustainable Development due to be held next September in Johannesburg.

During the meeting, His Majesty affirmed that Jordan exerts serious efforts to achieve sustainable development that takes in consideration improving citizens` standard of living and environment protection. Such development comes within our vision that the stage is that of accomplishment and action to ensure the participation of all in national development , he said.

On his part Bronk hailed the accomplishments Jordan has achieved under His Majesty King Abdullah II`s leadership , as well as the measures, plans and development projects carried out by the Jordanain government.

Earlier , Bronk briefed Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Khatib on the outcome of his tour where he met with several officials in the region , and on the regulations to be set for the coming summit.

Khatib stressed the importance of the summit and the topics to be discussed . He affirmed Jordan`s keenness on participation as a member of the summit and head of the Non Allied Movement.
