His Majesty King Abdullah II Holds Talks With King Fahed of Saudi Arabia

His Majesty King Abdullah II and King Fahed of Saudi Arabia on Sunday discussed the current situation in the region including the deteriorating security in the Palestinian territories.

During his two meetings with King Fahed and Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz, King Abdullah reviewed efforts being exerted to accomplish an Arab consensus and tighten the joint Arab action to come up with a united Arab stand in face of the impending challenges.

Within this context, King Abdullah updated King Fahed and Crown Prince Abdullah with his efforts and continuous contacts to create the most favourable circumstances to secure success to the upcoming Arab summit in Beirut next March.

The talks also covered viewpoints concerning the situation in Iraq and the efforts designed to determine a frame to tackle the state of affairs between Iraq and Kuwait in light of the Arab League Secretary Amr Musa`s recent talks in Baghdad and Kuwait.

King Abdullah and King Fahed see that the Israeli recurrent attacks on the Palestinians and the continuous violence prompt an immediate action to stop the cycle of violence.

The two leaders affirmed their stand in supporting the Palestinian people and backing their demand to restore their legitimate rights and establishing independent state on their national soil . They also affirmed that the only party with which the Palestinian issue can be discussed is the Palestinian national authority and its President Yasser Arafat.

Bilateral relations also figured high in the talks which were attended Royal Court Chief, the King`s Private Advisor HRH Prince Talal Bin Mohammad and a number of Saudi Princes and senior officials .

King Abdullah will for Kuwait on Monday to congratulate Emir of Kuwait on his recovery.
