His Majesty the King Starts a Visit to the US

His Majesty King Abdullah II began a several-day visit to the US where he will meet with US President George Bush.

His Majesty is expected to hold talk with Bush on May 8 on ways of activating the peace process and taking practical steps to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state on the Palestinian lands.

Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania arrive in Andrews Air Base in Washington on Friday where they were received by officials from the US foreign ministry, Jordan's Permanent Representative to the UN His Royal Highness Prince Zeid Bin Raad as well as Arab ambassadors in Washington.

Before his expected summit in the White House, the King, accompanied by Royal Court chief, the planning and foreign ministers will hold a series of meetings with US Vice President Dick Cheney, the US foreign and defense secretaries, leaders of the Congress and other US officials.
