King Holds Talks With the Russian Foreign Minister

His Majesty King Abdullah II held talks at the Royal Court on Monday with the Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov that focused on the road map and the developments in Iraq.



The King Affirmed during the meeting which was attended by minister of the Hashemite Royal Court, the foreign minister and the Russian ambassador to Jordan, the importance of the Russian role in supporting the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis, and in enhancing efforts to restore security and stability in Iraq.



His Majesty expressed satisfaction over the active Russian diplomatic role at this stage especially with regard to the Palestinian and Iraqi files.



On the situation in Iraq, the King and Ivanov underlined the importance of exerting efforts to enhance security and stability and restore normal life in Iraq. They also affirmed the importance of giving the Iraqi people the right to determine their future and the form of the government in Iraq.



His Majesty said that enabling the Iraqi people to manage their own affairs would enhance security, peace and democracy that the Iraqi people aspire for.



Talks during the meeting also covered bilateral ties and efforts of the two countries to develop them in the political, economic, trade, cultural and military fields.



King Abdullah also asserted Jordan's keenness to strengthen relations with Russia in the various fields.
