King Abdullah, Malaysian King Hold Talks

His Majesty King Abdullah II and Malaysian King Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin held talks on Thursday on issues concerning the Islamic world, the situation in the Middle East as well as bilateral ties and means to promote them in all fields.
During the meeting, King Abdullah stressed the importance of moving forward in promoting relations so as to achieve the interests of both peoples, especially in the economic, cultural and scientific domains. The meeting was attended by HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty's Personal Envoy and Special Advisor, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, and Malaysian Foreign Minister Sayed Hamed El Bar.
King Abdullah also outlined challenges that face the Islamic nation as well as the need for concerted efforts to confront attempts that aim at distorting the true values of Islam and link it with terrorism. The two leaders affirmed the importance of unifying efforts and views of Islamic countries, especially Jordan and Malaysia to defend Islam.
King Abdullah presented a briefing on Jordan's efforts, based on the Amman Message, to defend Islam and its true values. He also underlined the importance of dialogue with the West to elucidate the true principles of Islam, that are based on justice, equality, coexistence, and accepting others.
King Abdullah said that during the efforts to launch interfaith dialogue that he carried out in the US last month he had observed understanding and a positive response. King Abdullah's initiatives and efforts to underline the noble values of Islam were highly appreciated in Malaysia, especially that such concepts, which are based on the Amman Message, come in line with the Malaysian project of 'Islam Hadhari', being led by Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi.
On the other hand, His Majesty reviewed Jordan's efforts that aim at pushing the peace process forward, achieving a just solution for Palestinian issues, and restoring security and stability in Iraq. He also highlighted Malaysia's key role in supporting such efforts.
For his part, the Malaysian King expressed appreciation for Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, over its efforts that aim at serving the Islamic nation's issues, and realizing a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
The Malaysian King, who preformed Maghreb prayer with King Abdullah, hosted an Iftar banquet in honor of His Majesty King Abdullah and the accompanying delegation.
Malaysian Minister of Islamic Affairs, Abdullah Muhammad, affirmed in press statements the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah's visit in promoting relations between the two brotherly countries. He also stressed the importance of the Malaysian Project of 'Islam Hadhari' ,which comes in line with the Amman Message.
