King exchanges congratulations with Chinese president on 40th anniversary of ties

His Majesty King Abdullah and Xi Jinping, president of the People’s Republic of China, exchanged letters of congratulations on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Jordan and China.

In the letter, King Abdullah highlighted the depth of bilateral ties, which have grown into fruitful and strong relations over the past four decades, particularly in the economic field.

His Majesty stressed the importance of the signing of the landmark Strategic Partnership Agreement in 2015 between the two countries, expressing his commitment to continuing to expand relations.

Economic ties remain a top priority, the King added, underlining the potential for further cooperation in the fields of oil shale, renewable energy, infrastructure, technology, investment, and trade.

His Majesty wished the Chinese president success and good health, and for the people of China continued progress and prosperity.

On the occasion, the King received a similar letter from the Chinese president, in which he stressed his country’s commitment to enhancing relations with Jordan and expanding on the strategic ties between the two countries.

Over the past 40 years, the president said, ties between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the People’s Republic of China continued to grow in all fields, especially in terms of coordination and consultation on regional and international issues, and in cooperation in economic, commercial, cultural, and educational domains.

President Xi reaffirmed his keenness on working with His Majesty to bolster the partnership between the two countries in the best interest of the two peoples.

He also expressed his confidence that ties between Jordan and China will continue to grow, wishing Jordan further progress and prosperity, under the leadership of the King.
