His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday affirmed the important role of the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) in highlighting Jordan’s human rights efforts at international fora and its advanced standing in this field.

At a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace with the chairman of the NCHR’s board of trustees, Mohammad Adnan Bakheet, King Abdullah called for continuing the NCHR’s cooperation and coordination with all authorities and state agencies to enhance the status of human rights, which is a key basis for comprehensive reform.

During the meeting, attended by NCHR Commissioner General Mousa Burayzat, Bakheet delivered to His Majesty a copy of the NCHR’s 2016 report and outlined its main topics, as well as the methodology used in oversight and in following up on the comments received by the NCHR and referring them to the concerned parties.

The report highlights issues related to the status of human rights in the Kingdom and the required measures to implement recommendations.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan attended the meeting.
