King receives Canadian national defence minister

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received Canada’s Minister of National Defence Harjit Singh Sajjan at Al Husseiniya Palace and discussed means to strengthen cooperation in military and security areas.
 
Discussions covered the repercussions of the United States’ decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move its embassy to the city on regional security and stability, as well as on peace efforts.
 
The meeting also addressed efforts to fight terrorism within a holistic approach, with the two sides affirming the importance of stepping up regional and global cooperation to eradicate this threat to global peace and security.
 
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, Canadian Ambassador to Jordan Peter MacDougall, and the visiting minister’s accompanying delegation attended the meeting.
