His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday visited an unused Public Security Directorate (PSD) building in Maan, which will be turned into an elementary school to serve the area's residents, replacing two rented schools.

This measure comes upon Royal directives to the PSD director—after merging the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie and the Civil Defence Directorate into the PSD—to utilise buildings that will not be needed due to the merger for development projects, such as schools and medical centres, to serve citizens and alleviate pressure on the state budget.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Adviser to His Majesty for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh, Adviser to His Majesty for Policies and Media Kemal Al Nasser, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Hneiti accompanied King Abdullah on the visit.
