King meets figures from several governorates

His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, met with figures from a number of governorates.
 
At the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace after the inauguration of the 19th Parliament’s non-ordinary session, King Abdullah stressed that the House of Representatives must practise its role in oversight and legislation.
 
His Majesty said the majority of the House are first-time members, stressing the importance of teamwork among all institutions in service of Jordan.
 
The King highlighted Jordan’s strong regional and international role, and spoke about the agricultural projects the government is working on to help alleviate poverty and unemployment, stressing the need to support SMEs.
 
For their part, the attendees thanked His Majesty for ongoing outreach meetings and for his support of military retirees.
 
They stressed the importance of SMEs in mitigating unemployment and providing income to households amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, calling for continued attention to agriculture.
 
For his part, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi thanked the attendees for their suggestions and said they will be taken into consideration in coordination with the government.
 
Adviser to His Majesty for Tribal Affairs Atef Hajaya and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Hneiti attended the meeting.
