His Majesty King Abdullah, at a ceremony marking Jordan’s 75th Independence Day held at Raghadan Palace on Tuesday, bestowed the Order of the State Centennial on a number of leading figures in appreciation of their contributions to the advancement and progress of the nation.

The ceremony, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, as well as a number of Royal family members and senior officials and officers, paid tribute to Jordan’s 100-year history and highlighted various milestones from the past to the present day.

The ceremony also underscored Jordan’s close connection, through the Hashemite Custodianship, to Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Earlier this year, King Abdullah bestowed the Medal of the State Centennial on families of martyrs and on veterans of Al Karamah Battle at a ceremony marking its 53rd anniversary, and bestowed the Order of the State Centennial on all the nation’s martyrs at a ceremony marking the state’s centennial at the Martyr’s Memorial.

More national figures who have contributed to Jordan’s progress and achievements will be honoured throughout the year.
