His Majesty King Abdullah departed on a one-day visit to Cyprus on Friday, to hold talks with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.
On Saturday, King Abdullah will participate via telepresence in the event to present the Lamp of Peace award to UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
His Majesty was scheduled to attend the event in the Italian city of Assisi; however, the organisers decided to turn the ceremony into a virtual one as part of COVID precautionary measures, after Secretary-General Guterres’ exposure to people who tested positive for the virus.
In Amman, His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein was sworn in as Regent, in the presence of Cabinet members.
