His Majesty King Abdullah II Meets U.S. Officials

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday discussed Jordanian-U.S. relations with U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff General Richard Meyers. The talks centered on areas of cooperation between the two countries` armed force including the U.S. military aid to Jordan.

The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hamzah Bin Al Hussein , HRH Faisal Bin Al Hussein , Royal Court Chief , Director of the General Intelligence Department/Rapporteur of the State Security Council and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Meyers, who is top military advisor to U.S. President, the U.S.

Defense Secretary and the National Security Council, commended the humanitarian role of the Jordanian armed forces within the international peace keeping forces in several volatile areas in the world . He referred in particular to the excellent competence of the Jordanian army units which run the field hospital in Mazar e-Sharif, in Afghanistan where the offer medical services to the Afghani people.

King Abdullah had another meeting with U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN John Negrobumti, who is on a visit to Jordan in the course of a regional tour. Talks during the meeting dealt with the UN role in preserving world peace and stability.
