His Majesty's Speech at the Arab Summit

Sharm Al-Sheikh, 01/03/2003, (Communication & Information Division - Royal Hashemite Court) - His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed that Jordan has done its utmost and used its international relations to find a political solution for the Iraqi issue.

In a speech he delivered at the opening session of the Arab summit, the King said that Jordan also exerted tremendous efforts with the US president and his administration to convince them not to use military force and solve the crisis through peaceful means.

His Majesty called for solving the issue through peaceful means and giving international inspectors more time to complete their mission. He also stressed the importance of Iraq's cooperation with the UN and the implementation of all international resolutions related to Iraq.

"Jordan underlines the importance of backing any effort that helps in averting Iraq a military action as well as averting the region's peoples more catastrophes and destruction," His Majesty said.

On the Palestinian issue, King Abdullah affirmed Jordan's keenness to exert every possible effort to ensure the implementation of the Arab initiative which stressed the importance of Israel's withdrawal from all the occupied Arab lands in 1967, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and finding a solution for the refugee's issue on the basis of resolution 194.
