King Abdullah Announces New Armament Program for Jordanian Armed Forces

His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces on Monday announced a new defense system to develop weaponry of the Jordanian Armed Forces.

According to the program, the Royal Air Force will be provided with a developed air defense system by the end of this year or at the beginning of the next year. Besides, the Armed Forces will be equipped with two types of anti-tank missiles by the end of this month, King Abdullah said during an iftar banquet held in his honour by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt General Khaled Jamil Sarayreh and attended by HRH Crown Prince Hamzah, Royal Family Princes and senior officials.

King Abdullah also announced a 10 dinar increase to monthly salary of the Armed Forces personnel and those of the Public Security Directorate, the General Intelligence Department and Civil Defense Department with the aim of improving their living conditions. The increase takes effect as of next month.
