King Abdullah II Visits Prime Ministry

His Majesty King Abdullah II expressed his satisfaction with the measures the Government is taking to deal with the difficult circumstances prevailing in the region as a result of the war against Iraq.

During a meeting that was held today with the Prime Minister at the Prime Ministry and attended by the Ministers of the Royal Hashemite Court, State for Political Affairs and Information, Foreign Affairs, Energy and Mineral Resources, Industry and Trade, and Interior, His Majesty reiterated his confidence in the ability of the Government to secure the supply and petroleum needs of citizens in a normal manner.

His Majesty expressed his deep concern to the growing number of innocent civilians falling as victims indicating the need to exert all efforts to stop this war as soon as possible.

His Majesty also expressed his contentment with the responsible behavior that was demonstrated by Jordanians through the expression of their angry feelings towards the war against Iraq which manifested their support to their brothers in Iraq in a sensible and disciplined manner.

The Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb briefed His Majesty on the Government's efforts to assist the economic sectors that are affected by the war against Iraq particularly transport, tourism, and industry sectors. He also pointed out to the measures taken to ease the repercussions of war on our national economy.

Several Ministers talked about the efforts exerted to ensure the delivery of the in kind and medical aid to the brothers in Iraq whether it was donated by Jordanian institutions or coming from brotherly countries through Jordan.

For his part, the Minister of Interior pointed out that the Kingdom has witnessed more than 100 rallies and demonstrations during the last week, which mainly proceeded in an orderly manner.
