King attends Arab Intelligence Forum hosted by GID in Aqaba

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Wednesday attended the second round of the Arab Intelligence Forum, hosted by the General Intelligence Department (GID) in Aqaba, with the participation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
 
Welcoming the heads and representatives of Arab intelligence services via teleconference, King Abdullah underscored the importance of the forum as a framework for institutionalising joint Arab action and as a step to bolster Arab intelligence cooperation.
 
His Majesty emphasised the need to counter the threats facing the Arab world, especially terrorism and extremism, stressing the need to address global crises and developments, as well as the social, economic, and security implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
The King noted that the current phase requires stepping up joint Arab action, unifying efforts, and developing the mechanisms necessary to accomplish tangible results, lauding the efforts of Arab intelligence services in safeguarding security and stability at the regional and global levels.
 
His Majesty expressed confidence in the ability of Arab intelligence services and the forum to further advance cooperation.
 
Crown Prince Al Hussein participated in one of the forum’s sessions on challenges and risks in the region.
 
For their part, the heads of participating delegations voiced appreciation of His Majesty and His Royal Highness for their support to the forum, and expressed best wishes on the occasion of Jordan’s state centennial, describing it as an occasion to celebrate Jordanians’ tireless efforts to build their homeland and achieve their aspirations.
