King Chairs a Meeting for the Local Development Council in Zarqa

His Majesty King Abdullah II expressed satisfaction over results of the economic and social developments process in the Zarqa Governorate last year and in the first third of the current year.

The King who chaired a meeting on Monday for the Local Development Council in Zarqa, expressed determination to give a greater role for the Zarqa governor to enable him to achieve sustainable development in Zarqa after this method proved to be successful.

His Majesty also affirmed the importance of providing the necessary funds for a number of projects that have not been listed in the 2003 budget.

King Abdullah promised to provide the necessary funding to accelerate the process of rehabilitating the site of the Zarqa camps, and turn it into residential center that absorbs half a million people, in addition to establishing a trade center in the site.

During the meeting which was attended by Royal Court Minister, Royal Court chief and the ministers of planning and interior, the King asked officials in the governorate to establish a data base on poverty and unemployment in the governorate after making field studies, to enable decision makers to get acquainted with problems and difficulties that face citizens.

The Governor of Zarqa Abdullah Al Sarhan for his part briefed the King on projects being carried out in the various fields.
