King Departs for Singapore on a Working Visit

His Majesty King Abdullah II left Amman heading for Singapore and Malaysia on a several-day visit during which he will attend deliberations of the 12th Economic Summit for Eastern Asia which is organized by the World Economic Forum in cooperation with the Singaporean Council for Economic Development.
His Majesty will also head the Jordanian delegation to the summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference scheduled to start in Malaysia this week.
During his participation in deliberations of the Economic Summit for Eastern Asia, King Abdullah will deliver a keynote address and will meet with the Singaporean president SR Nathan, Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong and heads of a number of participating delegations.
The King will also visit the Islamic Center in Singapore and meet representatives of mass media.
The economic summit for Eastern Asia will discuss a host of issues related to the opportunities available to renew and stimulate growth in the region's countries and enable leaders and businessmen and other sectors to look into these opportunities.
This year's summit will be held under the title "The future of Asia and Regaining dynamism Growth. Trends and basic visions of activating economic growth in the region will be determined during this summit which will also enable the participants to draw up the future of Asia through committees' discussions, workshops and roundtables that would review issues related to financing, transport, telecommunication, technology, tourism and health.
Other topics for discussion will include the impact of geopolitical and social issues on the business environment in Asia, issues related to the position of Asia in the new world order, regional and international trade, tourism, security and the search of peace.
His Majesty was accompanied by a delegation that includes His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi Bin Mohammad, His Majesty's personal envoy and Private Advisor, Minister of the Hashemite Royal Court Faisal Al Fayez and Planning Minister Dr. Basem Awadallah.
His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein was sworn in as Regent in the presence of cabinet ministers.
