King follows up on ongoing measures to counter COVID-19

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday reaffirmed his confidence in Jordanians’ ability to rise to the occasion, stressing the importance of adhering to official regulations to safeguard their health and safety
 
Chairing via teleconference a meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, to follow up on the measures taken to counter coronavirus disease (COVID-19), King Abdullah emphasised the importance of keeping citizens informed of all efforts to counter the virus and the regulations aimed at containing it.
 
During the meeting—also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, adviser to His Majesty and chairperson of the National Policies Council—His Majesty checked on Jordan's strategic reserve, which officials confirmed is available in sufficient quantities.
 
The King called for covering citizens’ needs for basic food supplies for the short and medium terms during the curfew, underscoring the need for citizens to avoid mass gatherings during these times.
 
Following up on the medical measures taken, His Majesty urged providing additional COVID-19 detection kits.
 
Moreover, the King called for closely following up on the economic repercussions of the virus.
 
During the meeting, His Majesty was briefed by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and the concerned stakeholders on the mechanisms of implementing measures to counter COVID-19 and safeguard public health and safety, while taking into account covering citizens’ basic needs.
