King meets Dutch PM

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday met with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and discussed means to advance bilateral ties.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Aqaba Meetings, King Abdullah expressed appreciation of the Netherlands for hosting the meetings.

Discussions also covered the importance of building on bilateral agreements signed during His Majesty’s visit to the Netherlands in March 2018 to enhance cooperation, especially in the agricultural sector.

In addition, the meeting addressed overall developments in the region, foremost of which is the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The King stressed the importance of reaching a just and lasting peace, achieved based on the two- state solution and leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

His Majesty noted the vital role of the Netherlands and the European Union in pushing the peace process forward.

The meeting also covered developments in the Syrian crisis and efforts to reach a political solution that safeguards Syria’s unity.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas attended the meeting.
