King meets Japanese defence minister

His Majesty King Abdullah, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, met with Japanese Defence Minister Kono Taro on Sunday at Al Husseiniya Palace to discuss the strategic partnership between the two countries and means of enhancing cooperation in various areas, especially defence.

During the meeting, King Abdullah expressed appreciation for Japan's continued support to Jordan in many fields.

Discussions also covered regional developments, with His Majesty commending Japan’s role in pursuit of peace and stability in the Middle East.

The meeting touched on the Aqaba Process initiative, as well as regional and international efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach, and the need to maintain cooperation and coordination in this regard.

Adviser to His Majesty for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Hneiti, Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Yanagi Hidenao, and the delegation accompanying the defence minister attended the meeting.
