King meets president, PM of Lebanon, and chairman of Libyan Presidential Council

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday met separately with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord in Libya Fayez Sarraj, and President of the Council of Ministers of Lebanon Saad Hariri, on the sidelines of the Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia’s Dhahran city.

Discussions at the meeting with President Aoun covered bilateral ties and means to strengthen cooperation in various areas, in addition to current developments in the region.

The meeting also covered developments in Lebanon and the outcomes of the Rome and Paris conferences held to support the country.

King Abdullah affirmed Jordan’s support for Lebanon’s efforts to maintain its national unity, sovereignty, security, and stability, and wished Lebanon successful parliamentary elections next month.

Discussions also addressed the Syrian refugee burden on Jordan and Lebanon, and the importance of having the international community shoulder its responsibilities towards host countries to enable them to maintain relief and humanitarian services for refugees.

Moreover, the two sides discussed challenges and crises in Arab countries, affirming the importance of stepping up efforts to resolve them politically.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, and Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas attended the meeting.

At His Majesty’s meeting with Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord in Libya Fayez Sarraj, discussions covered means to strengthen ties.

The King asserted Jordan’s keenness to support all efforts to restore security and stability in Libya and rebuild institutions.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, and Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas attended the meeting.

At a meeting with President of the Council of Ministers of Lebanon Saad Hariri, discussions addressed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region.

His Majesty stressed Jordan’s commitment to bolstering cooperation with Lebanon, particularly in the economic and commercial fields.

The meeting also touched on the latest developments in Syria and its repercussions on the two countries, especially in terms of the refugee crisis.

The two sides affirmed the importance of maintaining Jordanian-Lebanese coordination in this regard.
