His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday paid a surprise visit to a rehabilitation and vocational training centre in Ruseifa for persons with disabilities affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development.

During a tour of the centre, King Abdullah stressed the need to improve conditions there by enhancing services and upgrading equipment.

His Majesty noted that providing better training services at the centre—and others around the Kingdom—is required to build the capacities of young Jordanians, empowering them to seek job opportunities and improve their standards of living.

The limited resources at the Ruseifa centre, the King added, impede the chance to offer the proper training and rehabilitation services to enable people with disabilities to join the labour market.

His Majesty called for paying more attention to the quality of training and rehabilitation, as well as providing a suitable environment at all such centres around the Kingdom.

During the surprise visit, the King instructed the Royal Hashemite Court to work with the government to improve the centre’s infrastructure, equipment, and technical capacities over the coming weeks.

The centre offers a two-year training for around 60 persons with mild disabilities between the ages of 16 and 30, qualifying them vocationally to become productive, self-dependent members of society.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and Royal Hashemite Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi accompanied the King on the surprise visit.
