His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira at Al Husseiniya Palace.

The foreign minister delivered a letter to King Abdullah from Brazilian President Michel Temer on bilateral ties and means to strengthen them in all areas.

At the meeting, His Majesty affirmed Jordan’s keenness on expanding cooperation with Brazil in various fields, particularly in the economic, commercial, and investment sectors.

The two sides also discussed the advantages offered by Jordan’s economy and its strategic position as a gateway into regional markets, in addition to African and Asian markets.

The meeting covered the investment promotion agreement between Jordan and Brazil, as well as ways for Jordan to benefit from the cooperation framework agreement with the member states of the Mercosur—Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.

Discussions also touched on regional developments, especially the peace process.

The King called for intensifying efforts to relaunch serious Palestinian-Israeli negotiations based on the two-state solution, which lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Also at the meeting, the two sides discussed efforts to resolve regional crises politically, in addition to efforts to fight terrorism within a holistic approach.

The Brazilian foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to advance ties with Jordan, praising the Kingdom’s pivotal role, led by His Majesty, in seeking security and stability in the region.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, Brazilian Ambassador in Amman Francisco Carlos Soares Luz, and the accompanying visiting delegation attended the meeting.
