King receives deputy ruler of Dubai, UAE finance minister

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai and United Arab Emirates minister of finance, at Al Husseiniya Palace for a meeting that covered means to advance bilateral relations.

Speaking at the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, King Abdullah expressed pride in the level of Jordanian-Emirati ties, affirming Jordan’s commitment to bolstering economic and commercial cooperation with the UAE.

His Majesty also thanked the UAE, led by President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for its ongoing support for Jordan’s development projects, in addition to the support it provides in the military field and others.

The King expressed appreciation for Al Maktoum Foundation’s support for small- and medium-sized projects and initiatives in Jordan, praising the efforts and directives of Sheikh Hamdan in this regard.

The meeting, which continued over lunch, also addressed opportunities in Jordan for UAE investors in sectors such as transport, healthcare, energy, and innovation.

His Majesty noted the importance of cooperation and expertise exchange between the two countries in multiple areas.

Sheikh Hamdan affirmed the UAE’s keenness on advancing ties with Jordan, underlining the Al Maktoum Foundation’s commitment to supporting projects and initiatives that would create job opportunities for young Jordanians in various sectors.

Senate President Faisal Fayez, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, Minister of State for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, and UAE Ambassador in Amman Matar Saif Sulaiman Al Shamsi, as well as the accompanying visiting delegation, attended the meeting.
