King receives Iraqi FM

His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al Jaafari and an accompanying delegation at Al Husseiniya Palace for discussions on bilateral ties and the latest developments in Iraq.

King Abdullah affirmed the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Jordan and Iraq, stressing keenness to activate cooperation in economic, commercial, and other sectors.

His Majesty noted that Jordan and Iraq stand together in the face of terrorism, adding that Iraq’s unity, stability, and prosperity are in Jordan’s best interest, and are also key to regional security.

The King also voiced Jordan’s support for Iraq’s efforts to fight terrorism. 

Stressing the importance of the participation of all components of the Iraqi people in the political process, His Majesty wished Iraq a successful parliamentary elections.

Discussions at the meeting covered current regional developments and efforts to reach political solutions to crises in the regions.

Foreign Minister Jaafari praised Jordan’s steadfast positions, led by the King, in support of Iraq’s unity, security, and stability.

Jaafari highlighted Iraq’s gains in the fight against terrorism, noting that Jordan has contributed to this achievement.

Iraq is committed to advancing ties with Jordan and expanding cooperation in various fields, in the service of the two peoples, the minister noted.

He thanked Jordan for easing the out-of-country vote for Iraqi expatriates living in the Kingdom.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, and Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Safia Al Suhail attended the meeting.
