King visit Judicial Council, receives judiciary’s annual report

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday visited the Judicial Council and the Court of Cassation, where he received the judicial authority’s annual report for 2017 from Judicial Council President Mohammad Ghazou and was briefed on the judiciary’s achievements and challenges.

At a meeting with Ghazou and members of the Judicial Council, King Abdullah praised the council’s efforts to develop the work of the judiciary, stressing the importance of providing all necessary resources to enable judges to undertake their duties.

His Majesty affirmed that courts are the cornerstone of the justice system and key to strengthening citizens’ faith in the state and their future.

The King urged all relevant institutions to work towards implementing the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Develop the Judiciary and Enhance the Rule of Law and ensure the training of judges to improve performance.

His Majesty stressed the importance of speeding up litigation procedures without impacting the quality of rulings, noting the need for specialised courtrooms.

The creation of a specialised courtroom for economic cases has contributed to enhancing Jordan’s investment-friendly environment, the King said.

Speaking at the meeting, Ghazou provided a briefing on the Judicial Council’s strategy to enhance performance, highlighting its achievements and measures to overcome challenges.

He also outlined what has been implemented in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Develop the Judiciary and Enhance the Rule of Law.
