His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday visited Expedia Group’s new software development office in Amman, which opened in May this year.

King Abdullah was briefed by Brand Expedia Group President Aman Bhutani on the company’s operations in Amman and its future plans to hire Jordanian ICT talents.

Bhutani said the talented human resources in Jordan’s ICT sector and the incentives offered to investors encouraged Expedia Group, one of the largest online travel companies in the world, to launch its operations in Jordan.

His Majesty toured the company’s offices and visited some of the divisions supervised by young Jordanians.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan accompanied the King.

Expedia Group, active in more than 30 countries around the world, had announced at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa 2017 at the Dead Sea the opening of a software development office in Jordan.

The company has recruited a number of Jordanian developers and engineers.

Founded in 1996, Expedia Group’s global team encompasses nearly 20,000 employees.

“We came to Jordan excited about the talent opportunity and potential to play a small role in Jordan’s broader humanitarian efforts, and we are beyond impressed by the energy and calibre of the young professionals here,” Bhutani said in a statement to the press.

In eight months, Expedia Group’s Amman office succeeded in hiring many talented individuals who have joined to contribute to several global projects.

For his part, Faisal Dajani, head of Expedia Group’s new software development office in Amman, said opening the office in Jordan has enabled the company to hire young talents, and to nurture a culture that supports innovation and promotes women’s participation in the tech industry.
