King visits GAM, says Jordanians entitled to quality services, streamlined procedures

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday affirmed that Jordanians are entitled to receive quality services and streamlined procedures.

During a visit to the Greater Amman Municipality, King Abdullah reiterated the need to inform citizens of the progress of GAM’s projects, especially those related to public transport, which is a top priority.

During the visit, His Majesty was briefed on GAM’s accomplishments, aimed at improving services provided to Amman residents, especially in public transport and digitisation.

The King, during a meeting attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, stressed the need for citizens to feel the impact of the digitisation of services, which should streamline procedures for them and for investors.

With regard to improving the investment and business environment, His Majesty urged a holistic plan to develop services and infrastructure in east and south Amman.

Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh presented a briefing on the progress of GAM’s projects, achievements and future plans.

Shawarbeh said GAM purchased 135 new vehicles, at a cost of JD16.5 million, to improve public transport services.

Highlighting progress in the Bus Rapid Transit project, Shawarbeh noted that GAM is on track in ensuring that it is complete and operated by the private sector by the end of 2020

As part of the e-government project, the mayor said 187 services will be digitised by end of 2020.

During the visit, His Majesty was shown the new modern public transport vehicles that GAM will be utilising to enhance services in Amman.

The King also observed a demonstration of the new digitised system to inspect economic institutions.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas, Adviser to His Majesty for Economic Affairs Mohamad Al Ississ, Minister of State for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, Deputy Mayor Hazem Naimat, and City Manager Omar Lozi attended the meeting.
