King visits gendarmerie directorate

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Tuesday visited the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie and met with its director, Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh.

Discussions covered security and regulatory issues related to the work of the directorate.

King Abdullah was briefed by Hawatmeh on the administrative and security strategies followed by the directorate to enhance the performance of its personnel, as well as the duties it undertakes in cooperation and coordination with other security agencies to safeguard the rule of law and maintain transparency and respect for human rights.

During the visit, His Majesty checked on the readiness of gendarmerie units and formations, and the strategies aimed at ensuring they undertake their duties in line with the highest standards.

The King praised the professionalism and advanced level of the gendarmerie forces, which have enabled them to ably deal with various security issues.

His Majesty reaffirmed his trust and pride in gendarmerie personnel and their major role in safeguarding the nation’s security and stability.
