His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received US Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Nikki R. Haley to discuss the strategic Jordanian-US partnership and current regional developments.

The meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, also covered the pressure of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan's economy and its limited resources.

The two sides stressed the need to increase international support for the Kingdom to enable it to continue providing humanitarian services to refugees.

Discussions also addressed efforts to arrive at a political solution to the Syrian crisis through the Geneva process.

Haley voiced appreciation for Jordan’s efforts, led by King Abdullah, to host Syrian refugees and offer them educational and health services, despite the added pressure on local communities.

She urged the international community to provide further support for Jordan to enable it to continue implementing its development programmes and cope with the pressure of the refugee crisis.

Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan also attended the meeting.
