King receives Egyptian FM

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who conveyed a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on bilateral relations and regional developments, in line with ongoing Jordanian-Egyptian coordination.
 
At the meeting with Shoukry, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah affirmed the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Egypt, and keenness to expand cooperation in various areas.
 
His Majesty also called for continuing efforts to bolster Arab solidarity and joint Arab action, stressing the importance of coordinating positions to take on the challenges facing the region.
 
Discussions covered current regional conditions, including the Palestinian reconciliation agreement and efforts to push the peace process forward, as well as the latest developments in Syria and Lebanon.
 
The two sides affirmed the importance of intensifying efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises, in order to restore security and stability for the peoples of the region and prevent further violence and tensions.
 
The King urged the Egyptian foreign minister to convey his greetings to President Sisi and an invitation to visit Jordan.
 
Shoukry’s visit to Jordan marks the first stop in a regional tour.
 
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan Tarek Adel, as well as the delegation accompanying the visiting foreign minister, attended the meeting.
