King attends military drill

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), attended a military drill on Monday conducted by the 40th King Hussein bin Talal Royal Armoured Brigade, which is one of the formations of the 3rd King Abdullah II Mechanised Armoured Division.

King Abdullah, in the presence of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, was briefed on the components of the military exercise by the commanders of the brigade and the division.

The drill included the evacuation of civilians in cooperation with security agencies, and using Black Hawk helicopters to drop leaflets, as well as using mortar rounds, sniper fire, tanks, and anti-armour missiles to fire at targets, with aerial cover from Royal Jordanian Air Force helicopters.

The exercise also featured combat in urban zones and aerial evacuations of injured people.

At the end of the drill, His Majesty praised the advanced level and professionalism of the JAF and security agencies, as well as their readiness to undertake their duties.

Directors of security agencies and a number of senior army and security officers attended the exercise.
