His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday attended a ceremony held at Al Husseiniya Palace to honour His Royal Highness Prince Raad bin Zeid for his contributions over the years in support of persons with disabilities.

His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al Hussein, president of the Jordan Olympic Committee, presented the International Olympic Committee award to Prince Raad.

The annual award is presented to figures or institutions in recognition of their services to sports in their countries.

The ceremony, attended by a number of royal family members, featured the screening of a video that highlighted Prince Raad’s efforts to ensure the engagement of persons with disabilities in sports.

Prince Raad expressed his appreciation for the honour, thanking King Abdullah and Prince Feisal.

Prince Raad has previously served as president of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities and the Jordan Paralympic Committee, and his efforts have helped put Jordan’s Paralympic sports on the international map.
