King meets president of Rwanda, deputy PM of Somalia on sidelines of Aqaba Meetings

His Majesty King Abdullah, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, on Sunday, on the sidelines of the Aqaba Meetings, met with President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, who is visiting Jordan for the first time.

Discussions covered bilateral cooperation prospects, including economic, investment, and trade fields.

Efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach were also discussed.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas attended the meeting.

King Abdullah also met with Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia Mahdi Mohamed Guled and discussed bilateral ties and efforts to fight terrorism.

The Aqaba Meetings are a series of international meetings launched by His Majesty in 2015 to bolster security and military cooperation, coordination and exchange of expertise among regional and international partners to counter terrorism.

This latest round of Aqaba Meetings focused on East Africa.
